I've been putting this introduction off long enough, so here is a little about me.
Name : SLO_Scatter
born : Feb. 26, 1959
City : California, Missouri
Country : USA
Hobbys : TV and racing
When I was 17 I was involved in a accident while riding my motorcycle. It paralyzed me from the chest down. I recovered some movement in my right arm, but no finger or wrist movement. But I've always loved racing, so in 1994-95 I started out with a game called Monster Truck Madness with a modified joystick, and I've been racing ever since then. I got Monster Truck Madness 2, then 4x4 Evolution, and FlatOut. Then Mumhra got me started with LiveForSpeed. I tried rFactor, but LFS is better IMO.
And here is the rig I use to drive with.
This is a picture of the brace I have to wear. I use the pen for pushing keys on the keyboard.
Another picture of the brace.
Here is a picture of my joystick with a T-handle that I used velcro to stick it on the side. I place my hand (palm down) on that T-handle. The sides of the T-handle keep my hand from sliding off of the top of the stick.
And that's how I drive. I can't push the buttons on the stick, and when I want to type a message during race I have to stop so I can take my hand off of the stick. So if someone types a message to me during practice or something, and I don't reply, I'm not ignoring you, it's because I don't want to take my hand off the stick while I'm moving.
I hope that answers some questions anyone might have had, and maybe clears up a few things about why I can't use manual shift or use a wheel. If anyone has more questions, don't hesitate to ask. It won't offend me or be embarrassing. I've been like this for 34 yrs and the only way people learn my situation is by asking.
