I will try to be online this evening at 20:30 for a safety car procedure test.. the more that can come the better.. And as there was only one to test.. the Safety Car procedure is canceled for next race. I don't want to destroy someones race with mis understood rules. So watch out, NOT to flip over... No reset allowed !!!

So as told on the season 3 section.
Because most are pro "safety car", we will deploy it .. but not during the official races of season 3.
Just like in other disciplines we will not make major changes during an existing season.
So we can use it to practice it during the test races or other non official races. This to fine-tune the rules for official start in Season 4.

I have a question about where the race is resumed by whomever is leading. When the admin signals that the safety car is in, and that we go at the end of the current lap, does the leader start when the admin signals that safety car is in or does he/she start when they reach the timing line at start/finish line?
Some racing series have different rules on where the race restarts, that's why I waited to restart until I reached the start/finish line during our little test last week. I just want to be doing the right thing if I ever was in the position of leading a race.
Cya on the track

in theory I think the race restart when the leader crosses the start/finish line.
now i wonder if we should forbit to pass a car between the line and turn one, just to prevent any weird maneovre, like staying further back from the leading car and start to accelerate sooner and pass the line faster than the car in front of you.
just an idea...

Ya, I was thinking about that too. Most series wants the drivers to be in a close formation and not hang back to get a run on someone when the green comes out. Anyway, that's why I didn't go until we got to the start/finish line when we tested it, even though hans was typing "go go go" when he was entering pitlane. When I read the rules, I thought it said that the leader resumes the race at the start/finish line.

mmmm I mostly watch at F1 as motor sport..and I like it the way the first car can play with the others..he can go, but the second one does not know he is really going or doing some more tire warming... And this makes it a very excitement thing. But in deed like in Nascar.. They form 2 lines all very close to each other.. But if I think in the way of making thing simple, I think the F1 one rule is the best for following reasons : 1. Safer in the first corner.. In Nascar they do not have a slow corner following so no danger there when they are all so close on the first corner.. 2. More playing in the front to decide when to go for it.. If you go to soon and make a mistake, the other one can catch your slip and at the first corner you are second.. If you start to late, they will all be very close to your position... But if you play it smart..you are gone gone gone and the rest will only smell your rubber. I just think it is already a complicating thing so I don't want to add another rule to it... Because the more rules we add, the more we have to review the whole race..

Because the more rules we add, the more we have to review the whole race.. Those points are all true. The leader decides when to restart. He can bring the whole field down to the restart slow in order to get a jump on the start, or he can bring the field to the restart faster. Either way, nobody can pass until after the start/finish line. My point was where the leader should restart the race. Does he restart it at the start/finish line or somewhere before that, that's all I'm asking. I don't want to add any more rules to this than absolutely needed either, like you do I'm sure. In series like IRL or Nascar, there is a determined area where the leader may restart the race. If the leader restarts too soon they can, and will, do 1 of 2 things. They will either abort the start and make the whole field go around under yellow 1 more lap, or they sometimes move the leader back a few spots for jumping the start and let the driver that was in 2nd place take over the lead. Granted, we wouldn't want to do either of those options. I was just wondering where the leader should restart, although it could be in different areas depending on the track. I'm over-thinking this aren't I? Sorry about that.

not at all because the other point linked to the "where do the race restart" is "how long are we limited to 120kph" or can the leader (and others) be penalised for accelerating over 120 before the finsih line. I think 120 is beter than 80 because in some cases, the guy passing through the pits and limited at 80 is actually taking A SHORTCUT!

Yup, 80 was a little bit too slow for a long track that is fairly wide and easy to make the turns at 80 or 120. I think the speed is going to depend on the track. The speed limiter might be a tad too slow. We have time to do more test runs before implementing it for real. Oh, that reminds me. I was going to copy the safety car rules used by the CTRA to see if there were things we could borrow or enhance our safety car rules...simplify them.

Yes 120 is better for this combo.
And as you say Scatter the number one (leader) has it all under control ... When we give the word.. Safety car comes in, race resumes on start/finish line.... Maybe the text " safety car comes in, race resumes, no overtaking until start/finishline" would be more clearifying

Just a reminder the Safety Car procedure rules are only for the official races of Season 4
Resetting or using Shift-P is not allowed on season 3.
And I have changed the rule that it is not necessary to take a drive trough when the race resumes. The fact that you have to wait to resume the race after all racers have come to 1 row already costs you a mimnimum of 1 lap....

I see that you have given points, but shouldn´t there be 2 points for ending a race to everyone. (me and cachi only got 1) And another related question. How do you do, when there is 2 races on one event..still 2 points even you don´t finish one of them or what? The last thing is that the rule for giving 2 points for ending a race is not written in the rules..it is just written in the Standings page.
