Well.. my thoughts on this guys. I am going to be completely honoust here. Some of you will completely disagree with me and call me an old fart but i don't care much. I'm OLD anyway lol. As some of you know i have done my fair share of real life car racing. Rally crosses, crazy stock car races, destruction derby's... you name it.. i have raced it. (http://users.pandora.be/mumhra/stock_car_pics/ , users.pandora.be/mumhra/stockcar-nightrace/ and users.pandora.be/mumhra/stockcar/ just to give a few examples). Tonight i was expecting it to be this kind of race. A little rubbing allowed, trying to make the other car spin allowed, little pushing but gently allowed,... But i got in a destruction derby instead. Some people were really trying to hit another racer as hard as possible. Now there is nothing wrong with that but imo it does not belong in a championship league because it is not fair imo. Some people were left on the track upsidedown for several laps, other people were pushed back on their wheels almost immediately. Also it often got very rough when a racer tried to lap somebody. I'm sorry but that is not my kind of racing. Don't get me wrong, it is fun but in a one of event like the ROC, not in a championship race. I'm completely honoust here. I did not expect anything like this at all. I knew there was going to be some rubbing and exchanging paint but this was just total carnage. People really aiming at eachother really trying to take the other car out and not even looking if they would come out of it alive or not. Scatter and i had some great races in practise. But it always stayed fair and clean. Ofcourse we often touched but we tried to make sure the other car could finish the race. I'm convinced most of you will disagree with me on this but i'm sure some will back me up on this. If i had known up front what was going to happen today i would not have bothered showing up. I was expecting 3 fair races and maybe we could do a race like we were doing to close of the evening. Sadly i did not have 1 good, fair race. Sorry Hanzi but this just is not my cup of tea. I can understand some of you like racing like this but i don't. I'm not blaming you or BSR for what happened today or for the way i feel about this. But this just is not me. It has nothing to do with simracing, irl racing or whatever. For those of you that like this stuff i hope you had fun

indeed it was more rough then it expected to.. But I, and I think a lot of others had a lot of fun !!... indeed it was not easy to pass trough but when you were fast (like Sennaboy) it was difficult to catch them. I don't think it is all about racing.. but also to have some fun without people starting to argue or even stop racing because they were hit during the race. And normaly slower racers have the chance of winning a race..
cu all on track !!

Hello,
I agree with Pe. It was more crashing as I expected. Its was also fun, but - for real - only the first race until I was blocked to lap Hanzi and had problems to reach the finish before Senna.
Because I saw "Qualification starts" after the first race, I thought, we start a new one. So I took the Quali set and low fuel. Then I recognized the 2nd race starts and I had to wait more then 10 seconds in the pits and I was last. The 2nd race was brutal. Trying to reach the crowd I pushed to hard, so crashed the wall: "Game over". After some spectation I was put on my wheel again and reached the 5th place. Thanks for the help again.
The 3rd race for was a desaster too. I had to pit 3 times until I knew I could reset too. At the first pitstop I was crashed so hard by Hanzi, that I couldnĀ“t repare my car to the end, get a Stop and go penalty, because I was pushed too fast through the pits. So I had to stop twice again. That was not nice.
All in All I think that was to hard. Pushing someones back is okay, but driving the wrong direction or crashing into someone with the aim to "kill" him should be banned from such races!

old fart ;D
Maybe you should remember that *correct me if i'm wrong but I seem to recall it that way last year* the crashing evening does not count in the championship points, so it's not that important if you have to spend some time head over heels. I had a surprisingly calm race. well the two first races anyway. I mostly raced alone, rub some door handles with gnomie and slo here and there, and knew that when approaching a car that had almost come to a stop i should try to avoid him as he would probably try to kick me out, but I managed most of the time and could concentrate on trying to catch the guy ahead (wich I never did of course) and not care too much about trying to overtake in a mannish manner when required. the third race I agree was a little too much. wrong way+reset+wall appearing in the middle of the straight = maybe a bit too much mayhem. but it was a fun laid back evening for me. no stress, no frustrations.

I did not know that. Last year i could not make it to that race so i expected it to be a points race. I'm not saying an event like this is not fun. I just did not expected it. I expected a rally cross, not a destruction derby. I had fun in race 1 and 2.. to bad i was on my roof almost the entire 2nd race tho lol. But when i was pushed on my roof in lap 2 of race 3 i had enough of it. Maybe we should organize a real destruction derby instead of this. There was no need to be on a track. Just take car park, add a circle of barriers in which you have to race and just try and crash eachother out. Maybe even a few ramps in there could be great.

So I have to correct.. It normally does count for the championchip ..just like in previous season.. It kind of gives us uninspected results.. And normaly the slower racers, like myself or SLO_Scatter, get a chance to make some points.. This time for me this was not the case.. So I concentrated on the distruction specification of the evening. It was planned to be a race with a more distruction derby touch to it. As it was mentioned in the race mail.. From the race mail : But I often get the feeling the race mail is seen more as a spam mail and not something you have to read.. If I get questions at the start of the race ." How many laps is the race??" Then I don't think people read that mail a lot. Same with the eliminating thing also mentioned in the race mail. I have no problem to cancelled it from the points list.. but then I think will hear complaints from the racers who made it to the end. Or we could re-organise it next sunday with a less destructive driving style and where we may tough one another but not with the purpose to eliminate the other one. We will make that decision after the reactions we get on the forum and mail.

No need to cancel it from the championship points. That was not my intention at all. I just wanted to state my feelings about this and they have not changed. An event like this can be fun but not in a championship. Just something i said so we can prevent this stuff from happening in the future.
I however do understand that it is difficult to draw the line on what is allowed and what isn't. I for one would say that when you are being lapped you should look at the blue flags. No need to brake and let the other guy pass you but you could at least make sure that you don't wreck the leaders races. Just my 2 cents...

I agree with mumhra. I think it would have been a good idea to have made two rules before the race:
1) all crashes/impacts should be with the intention that both you and the other driver should be able to continue racing afterwards. So no suicide ramming 2) like mumhra said, we should respect blue flag and let the leaders race unhindered.
The problem, though, is that the fastest couple of racers would then be able to drive unhindered all the way, while the mid field would be competing with each other..
Anyway.. for me it doesn't matter if this race counts in the championship or not. But I think it would be better if it didn't. The league is supposed to determine the most skilled driver. Last night's race had too much luck involved I think.

If I get questions at the start of the race ." How many laps is the race??" . that would be me as mentionned before I'm hyper busy lately, so being there was a performance in itself. being properly prepared would have been pure magic. (not that there never was some approximative informations given to te racers in the past.. like ... I'm still trying to figure what track is kyoto ring, ehehe) sorry about the wrong info. I suppose it was the ROC that did not count for points then.

It is ok with me if everyone votes to make this a non-points race. I am going to have to agree with Mum, Sennaboy, Gnomie, etc. In race no.1, I tried to race everyone as clean as possible in a rallyx, although I did rub fenders when trying to pass (if I had the chance to pass). In race no.2 it got a little rougher and I started seeing intentional hits, so that led me to believe that I didn't have to drive quite as clean as I was. In race no.3, that was a totally no holds barred(no rules) destruction derby. I have to admit that I am guilty of driving backwards on the track because I saw others doing it, therefore thought that going all-out was now allowed and encouraged. I even saw (briefly) a message telling me to slow down so people could catch up to me for more action. If I went to far over the edge, I apologize. Mum was correct, we had a very good practice session and we were rubbing on each other, making daring passes, so on. But we never took each other out. Like I said, whatever you guys vote to do as far as points is fine with me. Maybe we can do that track again when everyone can attend. Or how about this, we call the race we had a fun race, then reschedule Fern Bay Rallyx to a later date. Only this time, we treat it like any other race in the league, moderate rubbing, but not take-outs. My 2 cents
