This is a picture of the brace I have to wear. I use the pen for pushing keys on the keyboard. Another picture of the brace. Here is a picture of my joystick with a T-handle that I used velcro to stick it on the side. I place my hand (palm down) on that T-handle. The sides of the T-handle keep my hand from sliding off of the top of the stick. And that's how I drive. I can't push the buttons on the stick, and when I want to type a message during race I have to stop so I can take my hand off of the stick. So if someone types a message to me during practice or something, and I don't reply, I'm not ignoring you, it's because I don't want to take my hand off the stick while I'm moving. I hope that answers some questions anyone might have had, and maybe clears up a few things about why I can't use manual shift or use a wheel. If anyone has more questions, don't hesitate to ask. It won't offend me or be embarrassing. I've been like this for 32 yrs and the only way people learn my situation is by asking. Cya on the track

WOW respect men !!!! unbelievable that even with this you have come so fast during the last months !!!!
What can you do with your other arm?
I also think that the system that Gnomie has build, with the IR leds to control your view, would increase your performance, when you could look "into" the corner and have a better overview of traffic and track position.

Wow, I'm extremely impressed! I can't imagine how hard it must be to drive like that. Takes some skill! Thanks for showing us!

Thank you guys. The pics give you a better idea of how I drive, guess I should have posted those earlier. As for the IR view, I have thought about that myself when I read the posts about it. I just haven't gotten around to getting a webcam, and other things required to use the IR view. Although, if/when I do decide to finally do it, I'll probably get that hat that Gnomie found. So, one of these days, don't know when, I might have a way to look for the apex, traffic, and other things instead of guessing. I'll give it some serious consideration though. @hans - I can't do much of anything with my left arm. I was right handed when I had my accident, and the doctors told me that I would probably get more use out of my right arm since I use it more. But even when I was going through rehab after the accident, my left arm never would get stronger, not like my right arm anyway. Cya on the track

Wow, nice. Sometimes one can forget how hard all daily stuff can become by an accident or injury or such and that such daily stuff isn't so easy for others.
Cya on track & I hope that perhaps more modern science can aid you, even if it was just by making things more comfortable.

I´m also very impressed. About the typing problem. If others use a program like Teamspeak it´s possible to talk by headset without using any keys or buttons. It can be set to voice activation. I don´t know, how many use this in this league. I use it frequently and if some of you want, i can send you my TS adress or you can send me yours.

You're absolutely correct about using teamspeak. I used it a lot when I played MTM2 with my teammates and friends. But to reduce bandwidth usage and lag, I haven't used teamspeak with lfs yet. I need to find a wireless headset w/mic, mainly so I not glued to my pc. Right now I'm just using a stand mic on my table...but it's on the fritz at the moment.
Does teamspeak cause any lag in lfs?
Oh, and about the address, you can send it to me or put it in the forum here if want to. I have a teamspeak address for the old BSR Server. I don't know if that address even works anymore. Since my mic isn't working, I haven't fired up teamspeak lately.

Well, Ventrilo (which is pretty much a TeamSpeak equivalent) does cause massive lag in LFS for me. I think that's mostly because I have a single-core processor that's got more than enough with LFS alone. If you have a dual core processor it shouldn't matter at all.

That does look like a fairly decent wireless headset w/mic, but unfortunately they don't ship to the U.S.. At least not that I saw. It's good information though, I'll keep looking. Edit: Here's the wireless headset w/mic that I've been thinking about. www.logitech.com/index.cfm/webcam_communications/internet_headsets_phones/devices/4226&cl=us,en It's a little bit expensive compared to wired headsets, but I guess you have to pay for the freedom to move around not connected to the pc. Plus, I'm not sure whether to believe the reviews or not. I can get it $20 cheaper at TigerDirect. Guess I'll just wait till there's a better selection to choose from and the prices drop a little more.

...If others use a program like Teamspeak it´s possible to talk by headset without using any keys or buttons. It can be set to voice activation..... We have already used Teamspeak during LFS but not yet in official or test races. And talking without using an activation button is not possible I think and for the following : When someone is coughing or someone else is talking or the phone starts ringing, the rest hears it to. I know you can adjust the sensitivity of all this but coughing will always be heard. And I don't know about others but when I mess up or lose concentration I talk to myself and sometimes they are not for public ears And If I see how many people turn off comments in LFS, I don't think they want to be disturbed by something else than the engine noise in the headset or speakers... ;D The activation key solves that problem.. During the race it has to be completely silence except of next season when the Safety car procedure comes at hand. When someones yelling "Safety CAR" it could makes things very easy for the admin to talk instead of typing even if we use a lot of pre-defined keys. If you look at it for comments before and after the race it can be a very nice tribute to the game.. and it would give us a chance to know each other much better. During the race I would be STRICTLY for the admin only to use. Because indeed now for the admin, typing and driving is almost impossible. Driving and pushing 1 button is far more easier then it would be now. If we should go and try this it should also be on a private Teamspeak session.. We don't want others to start talking to us during the race. I also feel this subject will have a lot of reactions to so I open a new subject to talk about this on the forum
