Name : Hans
born : 03 feb 1967
City : Zedelgem
Country : Belgium
Hobbys : Speed Simulators : Flightsim and cars
Living with wife and 2 kids 13 year old daughter and 8 year old Son (2nd hand LFS account) already bought ;D.
With my age I saw all the simulator come pass but was NEVER attracted to the arcade modes of races games.. The first race sim I really spend hours and hours on racing was GP2 followed by GP3 by Microprose, spend some time with Colin Mc Ray 's simulators and afterwards I spend some race time on the new series of FIA formula one and sometimes the Need For Speeds (pure for fun)
Also the online version of DTM was good for a lot of online hours.. And then came LFS. Sennaboy and myself spend over a year racing in the demo version and had a lot of fun ;D ;D
Then bought the game joint the VRL and after a year they switched to RFactor (drove there 2 but not really my thing)
So we needed an LFS league and we started the BSR.. now know as the LiveForSpeed.be League...
My other sim hobby is the Flight simulator from Microsoft. And also followed them all. from fs2 on my commodore64 to FS-X the one we have now. Also there I like realism and arcade modes of Flightsim.. And this results in a lot of study.
When I fly it is always online... So the weather all over the world is synchronized in Flightsim.. when I fly in to Brussels and it rains there with the cumulus Clouds at 5000 feeth and a strong wind from 210° at 15 knots.. Then that is the weather you find in Brussels to !
Further more you also have ATC controllers on the net, often real ATC (Air Traffic Control) controllers that have the same job for real. so we speak the same language and terms and in the real world.
We have to prepare a flight plan and send it for approval, ask permissions to start engines, taxi , take off and switch from station to station until cleared for landing and put the plane on standing or gate they want you to. A lot of charts and paperwork helps us on completing this and finding our way around. The approach to an airfield of departing from a airfield is also done true special "airways" call SID's and STAR's.
Preparing a flight and aircraft for a flight from EBOS (Ostend- Belgium) to LEPA (Palma De Mallorca) takes up to 90 minutes before you can start your engines. During those 90 minutes you have to calculate the fuel you need, plan the route, program the airplane for it, send flight plan.... And then your gone for a 3 hour flight to land it on a sunny Island
I always flight thouse kind of flights with a Boeing 737 serie. From the 600 to the 800 serie. some pictures here below..
And before you all ask. Yes, I do know what function every buttons has. With that add-on from PMDG you have to know all the functions to start the engines.. Short said.. you have to put batteries online, start the APU (small jet engine in tail of plan), and use the bleed air from that engine to "blow" your main engines up to a starting speed, apply fuel, ignition and engine 1 is started.. one of the procedures to follow... for example when you forget to turn of the airco, it will not be possible to start your engines because you don't have enough bleed air to blow enough rpm in those engines
enjoy the screenshots here below.
So I now tell you I was flying all day and are hoping to get on time tonight .... that is what I was doing all day
