hi all there,
new patch
added Wed, Nov 25th, 2009 18:55 >Patch Z28 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hello LFS Racers.
We have released a new, full version with an installer and some improvements : Z28
It is compatible with version Z, so does not contain the new tyre physics or the VW Scirocco.
The main reason for this new version is that LFS really needed an installer - this will make it a lot easier for people who are trying LFS for the first time, and there are also benefits for people who already have LFS.
To read all about the new version, have a look at the Patch Z28 information page.
We would also like to give you some information about the ongoing development of the new tyre model. The new physics and plans for the VW Scirocco have inspired some other developments that are now important to get the best experience from the updates.
To find out about what has been is going on and some of our plans, please read the Tyre Physics Progress Report.

Yes, post your problem in the lfs forum for lfsrelax. Or just look through the posts already there, you might find a solution to your problem. LfsRelax is working just fine for me. I updated to Z28 last week. I'm using version 1.53 of lfsrelax. edit: Oh, one piece of advice if you didn't already know...use a fresh install of lfsrelax, including a new config file. I tried on a previous patch to save some time and just copy/paste my config from one patch to the other... it didn't work. But if you do a fresh install of lfsrelax into your Z28 folder, you can open the config file from the previous patch and use it as a guide to adjust the new config file in Z28. Confused yet?? I do it that way because I have multiple installs of lfs going back to patch Z, and a couple of other installs like one with custom textures, and a test patch install. I know, too many installs. I'll probably get rid of some of them one of these days.

I installed Z28 in the same directory Z25 was in. LFSRelax is in a subdirectory of the LFS directory. I have never had a problem with previous LFS releases. Maybe I have some custom setting that Z28 doesn't like, or something.

Answer: the new Z28 install changed the insim option to something other than 29999. I used the /insim 29999 command to change it back.

Cool, glad you got it sorted out.
I guess I do it the hard way, I put each new major patch in a new folder.

Accurate description of the problem and fix: the new install replaced my LFS shortcut. The old shortcut (on my desktop) had the /insim=29999 parameter, but the new one didn't. I added back the parameter and now the shortcut works properly. Join2LFS, of course, works fine because it supplies its own parameter string.
