It's a blast.
It's only a beta, and the MP code is still not as good as LFS (but that mp code is so good, i recon they'll have a hard time getting as good)
but the driving is great.
if you take a 1966 F3 car to spa (the stupidly fast 1966 spa) you think it's a walk in the park (top speed of 180, which means 90% of the corners are flat out)
F2 is doable to get good, consistent laps out of it, but give you a bit of a thrill every now and then.
And then you are stupid enough to try F1. and with try, I mean try.
If you get up the raidillon you where probably lucky, and then you get on a straight, Kemmel and think, ooh, i can just floor it here. WRONG, you can't not even 3rd gear, the back will slide side to side, not spinning the wheels, its just feels a bit like a hovercraft that has grip every now and then. once you find the amount of throttle you can give to try and keep it going straight you soon realise that you are going 280 km/h on in a box with wheels, that doesn't have propper brakes.
The fact that the brake are not as stong as on a modern day racing cars isn't a problem at that point, the fact that you are on a 4 fancy road tires is.
I you are lucky and manage to think about braking in time, shifting down without locking up the rear wheels, or just spinning at all since there is a slight righthand bend in the braking zone, you end up in les combes, which in those days was a 3rd gear 90° slightly banked downhill bend to the left. Now, remeber you've come this far so you might have have a good feeling about this.
Wrong again my friend, if you steer in to hard, you wil get and understeer resulting in an oversteer resulting in certain death.
if you think, oh, i will start pushing the trhottle pedal again, since cars have more grip under acceleration. well then, this car handles like a drag star, all the weigt in the back, apply throttle and you front wheels almost come of the ground because of the soft suspension meaning you will plow straight ahead towards your death.
what you need to do, is under braking start turning in, if the front end grips, watch out, because the back end wil start to come around, when you then apply lets say 35% of throttle you will overstear end get your back end stuck in the trees, meaning you will die. apply 10% of throttle you will understeert because this means the engine will brake on the rear wheels and you will die.
lucky once again, you manage to get it halfway trough the turn, you you realise you have to accelerate out of the corner, so start to get your steering wheel straighter and use that throttle pedal again, it you get it right, it's a blast, if you do it to soon, you have 2 optoins, you oversteer and end up in the ditch or you accelerate so hard you can't make the turn anymore.
next up 3 corners in a row at about 280 km/h,
did i mention for safety reason, the put a hay stacks in front of a house that is about about 1m away from the road.
but i only guess you will get to see this after your 5th attempt or so
god, this game is awesome, and feels really good.
Hoping i will have a much modding as RF1.
some would hate it for that, i love it
FFb still needs some adjustments but I expect the community to come with a good mod if the original is not superb (like realfeel FFB in rf1).
