Hi all,
on a meeting with Sennaboy we decided to a more realistic touch to he race by not letting the wind to zero every time. Also in real live we have diffirent weather conditions. Even during a race they have rain that stops and starts. So yesterday we've put the wind on full speed (32km/h).
And this added another skill level to the race of yesterday. But for those who arrived I think the reward was larger??
So my question is.. do you want some windy races in the future?? So the chanlenge is bigger? Or you think no way, give me only ideal (not realistic) weather conditions.

"Yes, it add a more realistic tough to it."
I think its good for more realistic touch.. But I think its better to reduce a bit the force of wind ! Yesterday was too higher !

Also, could you set the weather conditions the same during practice so we can get a better idea on what to expect from the conditions? Or would you rather be more realistic like real-life practice day might be perfect conditions, then race-day is totally different...very little time to adjust to the conditions means you have to adjust your driving style?
I'm in favor of it, just wondered if the conditions would be the same during practice.

I'm in favour! But maybe you should only use strong wind on the "easier" races. Some races are more than difficult enough with no wind, too. (unforgiving cars, difficult track etc) How about not announcing what wind conditions there will be in the racemail? So that only when people get there at 8 PM or so the server will be set up with the correct wind. Then it would be equal for everyone. For instance yesterday I got the racemail at 7 PM, and I didn't have time to practice until the real race, so I didn't know what the wind would be like. Apparently some others had more time to prepare.

Hi all,
and now we are waiting when the makers of lfs put also rain in it so we can drive a race in the rain.

I'm all for challenges and the wind last sunday made the race really difficult (exciting?). only problem is I run LFS with minimal details, no flags to allow maximum FPS (wich already are rather low on my 6 years old system) so spotting the wind force/direction was a total surprise. actually, I don't even know if flags and dust respond to wind force and direction in LFS. as a biker, I'm very excited by wet races !! I just fear that rain effects will defenetly kill my FPS.

Thats why i disagree by no announcements at all. I should be on saterday well known what kind of weather it will be. hmm followup poll? lol

yes I also think the weather forcast maybe given not earlier then saterday. The direction of the wind is random chozen... I can not chose the wind direction. Just the wind strenght.
But for the surprise, difficult or excitement element, I think it can only be set on the sunday.

Yes, add real life factors. Without a doubt. And when it's possible for it to rain it will be great.
BUT.... i do not agree with knowing what weather it will be like 24 hours before race starts. Of course, in real life 24 hours is correct but in this case it's a person that decides what the weather is going to be like. And that person is racing in the league himself. That means that the person the will decide what the weather is going to do will be able to practise for 2 weeks on the track with the correct weather conditions while the other racers only have 24 hours.
I'm 100% sure that that won't happen. I thrust you guys enough for that. But still... i'm sorry to say but it is unfair. If you want variable weather conditions i agree 100% but only if the weather of the race will be anounced after the previous race. So everybody has 2 weeks to practise in the correct weather conditions. With the wind factor we only have now it's not such a big deal. I think it's not such a big difference if the wind blows at 10km/h or at 20 km/h. But when rain will come into play it will be a big difference. The person who decides what the weather will be like will be able to practise for 2 entire weeks in the rain, while others only have 24 hours. And since i hardly have any time on saturday evenings i won't be able to practise at all in the rain. Seems a little unfair imo.

Hi Pé,
we us admin could also contact a racer before the race and let that racer decide what weather conditions we set for the race.if we contact 24 h before a race another racer we as admin could also not practise. that seems to me fair play of the admins.

And since i hardly have any time on saturday evenings i won't be able to practise at all in the rain. Seems a little unfair imo. Correct, but even now, when I define wind strenght 3 , I can not decide the direction of that wind. So practicing is not in order. Unless you know how I can also set the direction of the wind. So If I set the server for 2 weeks on that type of weather whe have to hope they do not restart; because when we have to , the direction will be completely different. And of course where's the feeling of surprise and realism with a constant weather of 2 weeks?? So practicing before is out of the question. But I can folow your reasons when it comes to rain. I do hope when they apply rain to the game we can set it in random during the race. and give a % of rain during race. And we can have races where rain can come and go without knowing when... So for now I can just predict a wind strenght but not a direction.

There is an echo Hans ;D
I think Danny had a pretty good idea.. let a random racer decide... tho i'm a bit scared that a lot of racers will say 'no wind' because they have been practising for 2 weeks without wind.
With only wind being a factor it is not such a big problem tho. But when rain becomes a factor it's something totally different. Not if it is like Hans says (a percentage chance of rain) but it will be a problem if you can choose between sun and rain. Then letting an admin decide is unfair imo. But let's not jump to conclusions. Maybe rain will only come out in LFS S3.
