I just read the post by Xtian in the "Closed Session" section, and finishing a 1 hour race is going to have to be explained to everybody next week. I knew I was laps down, and I saw the counter turn orange, but I kept racing until I saw the finish order starting to pop up. I was half way into another lap, so I finished that lap, then stopped.
Running for a certain amount of time is a little different than running a set number of laps when it comes down to the finish, but hey, we'll get the hang of it.

Yep, I learnt that the hard way. But I'll remember that next week. I learnt a lot yesterday.. most importantly, I learnt that I need more practice. But hopefully I'll get the hang of it till next time. Does anyone know if mumhra, dustin and bluebird are still with us this season?

yup sorry, didn"t realise that was restricted access part of the forum. long story short, the race does not end when you cross the finish line after 1hour. the race finishes when you cross the finish line AFTER the leading car crossed it after 1h. I didn't see the result pop up when I crossed the line so suspected it. I tried to display the finish results and pressed the wrong button and swapped view with gnomie for a moment i also think shift-P should be disable for the championship race, or more severly sanctionned. I flipped my car just around mid race, and even with a drive through, new tyres resulting in shift-P came very handy and faster than a regular pitstop to change tyres.

Does anyone know if mumhra, dustin and bluebird are still with us this season? I will probably join a few races yes Gnomie. Tho in summer it will be very difficult because i'm normally not yet at home at 8.30 pm on sundays. Just like yesterday. I wanted to join because i could use the practise and i need a setup but i just was home to late. I have no idea yet if i will be home in time next weekend...

I crashed Sunday while trying to give J room to pass and still run a decent lap. My car hit the guard rail and the car started flipping, then I ended up under the track. I pushed the spacebar to reset, if I hadn't been able to do that it would have been over. I took my drive-thru penalty after that. I understand your point about it giving you fresh tires, which for some would be a huge advantage. But not me so much. Is there a way to limit what reset does when it's used? Like maybe just setting the car on the track without giving you new tires?

hi, the race ends when the first one gets Finished. And for all the other racers, they suddenly see the finish order come up on the right of the screen. The other racers just have to finish the lap they were driving. Xtian, I think you mean "car reset" with your "SHIFT -P" ?? But here folows the "Shift-P" rule again to refresh : Just like other official races "SHIFT-P" is allowed during the outlap of qualify and first lap of the race. It is not allowed during the 2 hotlaps of qualify or the rest of the race. Using it results in Disqualification. During test races it is allowed. And "Car reset" will be allowed ONLY during test races. And indeed the penalty is not high enough so let us increase it to 2 pitstops... Pe, nice to here from you again , can you put your name on the list of the first page of this treat?

So we do 2 drive-throughs after using the space bar to reset the car, and can only use reset during test races?
Ok.

Is there a way to limit what reset does when it's used? Like maybe just setting the car on the track without giving you new tires? NO NO, I desperately need those new tires, why do you think I crash? LOL. Anyway, Reset keeps me in the race (I used it Sunday after flipping). Without it I have a short day. I know, I know, more skill would keep me from flipping, but why step out of character at this late date?

Hi,
Been a while since I raced in LFS... going to uni and other stuff kept me away from racing. I'm hoping to be able to race some more in september and beyond, is there still room left in Season 3 to join up ? I think I should be able to make it for race 2, the 14th of September.
I did some years ago a few races with the VRL, is it still the same organised ? Do online hotlaps to qualify you for a server (1 or 2) and for the race, then the warmup lap, then race ?
Cheers, GianniC

I know, I know, more skill would keep me from flipping, but why step out of character at this late date? Just remember, reset will not be possible during the race Sunday.. So indeed practice is at hand .. To play sure you can also put downforce on full force. Indeed you will not go as fast as the other one but.. It may keep you on track and faster in the corners. But also watch those tires... Or tyres for the UK ;D Yesterday I learned Americans write "Tires" while they write "tyres" in the UK... But because we are an international league I will go for the "tires"

Cheers, GianniC Hi Giannic, glad to hear from you again !!! We also raced at the VRL .; But then they decided to go further with Rfactor and stop the LFS activities. So we decided to continue with the LFS section. First of all we were also a strickly dutch league.. But to attract more racers we had to make this an international league. That's also the reason why we conversate in english or what looks like English ;D. but I can see that is not the problem for you. Just like with the VRL we use the Sywix system to check the hotlaps and if a racer has practiced enough so he may participate the qualify sessions. If he does not have the number of forced laps on Sywix, he must start the race from last position. The qualify session starts at 20:30 CET (see the time on our website) and has 1 in lap (shift-p may be used) and 2 hotlaps (no shift-P) then prepare for race. Then we have 1 lag lap (stop after the last corner) and start of the race (shift-P may be used in 1st lap no reset possible). But like I have told the other racers PLEASE ALL read the rules again on the web page !!!! There have been some changes in the rules so it is VERY necessary to read them at the start of a new league. So If you ask if there is still room to join ?? Yes,there is and Welcome back !! Do you still recieve the race mails??

I crashed Sunday while trying to give J room to pass and still run a decent lap. Not necessary of course.. read rule.... 8.5 8.5 At a blue flag situation you always deviate from the ideal race line within the next 3 following corners. This must happen however at a safe place. This also means that faster drivers may only pass you when this can be done safely!!!So a faster driver has no right to claim his place when the passing move can be done safely!!
